The naked body of a woman was found floating in waters off Montagu Beach around 7:20 a.m. Friday, police said.

Police said she had multiple stab wounds to her neck.

Officer in charge of the Eastern Division Superintendent Elaine Sands said when officers responded they discovered the body on the shoreline east of the Nassau Sailing Club. Police believe the victim was dead about two hours before she was found.

Sands said police were not sure of the woman's identity. She was described as a black woman with dreadlocks.

She said the circumstances surrounding the woman's death were also sketchy.

In a separate incident, police reported that a man was found lying on the side of the road near Island Windshields and Auto Sales at Wulff Road, west of Jerome Avenue, early yesterday.

Police said the victim was stabbed several times.

Officers said they received a call regarding the discovery around 1 a.m.

Police were uncertain of the circumstances surrounding the latest murder.

According to Superintendent Paul Rolle, officer in charge of the Central Detective Unit, a 21-year-old male has been arrested and is assisting police in the matter.

Police appealed to members of the public who have information on any of the murders to contact them at 919, 911, Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS or the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991.

The incidents pushed the murder count for the year to 55. Last year this same time, 66 murders had been recorded.

Police also reported that a 19-year-old man was in hospital after he was shot multiple times on Saturday morning.

The man was at Cambridge Lane, off Baillou Hill, around 4:40 a.m. when he was shot, police said. He was taken to hospital by ambulance, where he was in serious but stable condition.
