Latoya wrote in for The Celebrity Artist portrait giveaway contest on TheBahamasWeekly.com saying, "My husband's father lost his life in November 2007 when he was kidnapped from his job at Eight Mile Rock High School and then murdered. I recall the day when my husband (Vincent Charles Pedican) called devastated because the last voice message from his father was deleted from his phone. It was all he had left...his voice."
