World-Class $10 Million Multi-Purpose Center to Open in The Bahamas Development to create hundreds of jobs and diversify country’s social options

NASSAU, Bahamas — A $10 million upscale dinner, cinema and entertainment venue is slated to open its doors in 3Q of 2014, with 200 to 300 jobs created following construction of the highly anticipated Encore center. The first-of-its-kind contemporary center is expected to answer the calls of Bahamian residents long unsatisfied with the lack of diversity in social options around the country, said principals of the project’s development firm, TFG Company Ltd.

“Everyone complains about nothing to do of substance here,” said Ellis Peet Jr., partner in the five-member, all-Bahamian firm. “After you’ve done it once or twice, you get tired of the same thing, so what we’ve conceptualized is an avenue that is fully Bahamian owned and operated and allows us the experience of something world-class. “Hence, the birth of Encore.”

Construction of the multi-purpose venue in western New Providence will kick off between late 2013 and early 2014. Lead project designer Marcus Laing explains that the project is still in the fundraising stages, with pre-sales having already begun for VIP membership to the high-end facility for personal and corporate clients.

The 45,000 square-foot complex will be a green-design facility using high-efficiency equipment and LED lighting, with emphasis placed on indoor air quality. There will also be a provision of power stations for electric vehicles and golf carts as well as bike racks for bicycles. The latest technology combined with upscale amenities is expected to add to the sustainability of both the structure and the market for the long run.

“We’ve done some extensive research that supports our business models because the question is always can you survive after the initial interest?” Said Peet. “But we’ve been very innovative and diverse in our business models and offerings and we are confident in Encore.”

The numbers and confirmation of Encore’s sustainability have already been signed-off by a well-respected accounting firm, setting the stage for this project to begin and to lend assistance with kick-starting the economy.

“Being Bahamians and knowing where we are with our economy, we wanted to offer a possible solution,” said Peet. “We didn’t want there to be the thought process that it takes a major development to fortify stellar service attitudes.”

The Encore concept has never before been done in this region and has rarely been executed in this combination on a global level, with plans already in the works to host major independent films, screenings and international events at the center.
