"Hyperrealism at Balduccino's" takes place in the lower courtyard of Baldaccino's today, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Original pencil drawings by K. Smith will be accompanied by wines from the world's finest vineyards, specialty foods by Balduccino's and live music.
The 5th Annual Empty Bowls Charity Event takes place Sunday, February 24 at Queen's College Auditorium on Village Road, 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Ceramic bowls and handcrafted items will be available for sale. Admission is free. "Kaleidoscope III", an exhibition by the Bahamas Union of Teachers and the Bahamas Association of Art Educators, is featured at the Treasury Building on East Street. The exhibit will feature works by art instructors from both private and public schools throughout The Bahamas.
"Single Sex", an all-female portrait show depicting only female subjects, continues at The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas. NAGB Curator John Cox says it is meant to stand in dialogue with the "Master Artists of The Bahamas" exhibition (later this year), which has no female representation. "Sketch24" Reception and Exhibition continues at Popopstudios ICVA in Chippingham. Artists and participants worked on these drawings from 12 p.m. February 1 to 12 p.m. February 2 during a fundraiser that started at the Antonius Roberts Studio and Gallery at Hillside House and ended at Popopstudios. Proceeds from the fundraiser will be in aid of Popop's residency program.
"Matters of the Heart" a Salus Project art exhibition continues at the Ladder Gallery, New Providence Community Centre, Blake Road.

"Nature's Blessings", a collection of floral paintings and Bahamian scenes by the late Josephine Marie Sherman continues at Doongalik Studios, 20 Village Road. The show closes on Monday, February 28. NE6: "Kingdom Come" continues at the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas through April 7, 2013. Lectures and Readings
"Meet the Writer" hosted by The College of The Bahamas School of English Studies will feature Obediah Michael Smith and Nicolette Bethel. Smith's "Discovery Daze" and Bethel's "Lent/Elegies" will be launched at 6 p.m. on Monday, February 28 on the second floor of Chapter One Bookstore. It is free and open to the public.
The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas is pleased to present "Forbidden Fruit: The Discovery of The Americas and its New Foods Portrayed in European Painting", a lecture by George Wanklyn, Associate Professor, The American University of Paris, at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2013.
Under the National Exhibition Six (NE6): "Kingdom Come", the National Arts Gallery of The Bahamas (NAGB) Education Department presents the third Artists Talk Panel with NE6 participating artists discussing the sub-theme: "Transformation and Identity" on Tuesday, March 26 at 6:30 p.m. Participating Artists include Sue Katz, Keisha Oliver and Sonia Farmer. Music
The Nassau Music Society will hold a "Festival of Afro-Caribbean Composers" in Nassau February 20-24. On Saturday, February 23 at 7:30 p.m., there will be a full orchestral concert at the COB Performing Arts Centre which is billed as the Nassau Music Society's contribution to the 40th anniversary of Bahamas independence.
On Sunday, February 24, the final event will be held at St Paul's Church Hall, Lyford Cay at 5:30 p.m. A one-hour concert will feature the chamber group and Quatuor Mahogany, followed by a reception.
Film
