A second man was arraigned in connection with the recent shooting death of a retired utilities worker during a gold chain theft. Damil Campbell, 28, of Stapeldon Gardens, appeared before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez on Wednesday, charged with murder and attempted armed robbery. It is claimed that on Tuesday, August 28, he caused the death of Earnest Hepburn, who he also tried to rob. Hepburn, a 61-year-old retired Water and Sewerage Corporation worker, was on the porch of his Inagua Way home playing dominoes with a friend shortly before 1pm.

He was approached by a gunman who snatched a chain from around his neck before shooting him. Chief Magistrate Gomez told the accused he was not required to enter a plea to the charges and that his case would be fast-tracked to the Supreme Court for trial. Campbell was remanded to prison without bail, joining his co-accused 21-year-old Dexter Rolle of Bailou Hill Road South, who was charged on September 17.
Both accused men were remanded until the completion of their trial. Campbell returns to court on December 6.
