Obama as Muse

Whether or not you think Barack Obama deserved to win or not tuesday, he is still – unequivocally – the Commander-in-Chief, el Jefe, the President of the United States. Tuesday's election should dispel the erroneous thought that his first term was a fluke or a novelty. Flukes don't happen so decidedly – twice in a row. It was his race as evidenced by his winning the majority of the electoral votes as well as the popular votes, Florida notwithstanding.

Either way, it’s clear that President Obama makes an excellent muse. He is inspiring and causes many to believe and hope for better things. The truth in him connects with creatives which motivates them to fashion artwork in his honour. It’s hard to think of a US political candidate in recent memory who has, in real time, inspired so much creativity, exercised free of charge and for the campaign’s benefit. Perhaps this suggests something about Obama — or maybe it suggests something about his supporters.
