A jury on Tuesday cleared Rony Joseph of gunning down another man outside his home. Prosecutors alleged that Joseph shot and killed Jean Jeanty shortly after a group of men smashed his windshield as he drove on Bacardi Road in November 2010.

After deliberating for two hours, the jury cleared Joseph of the murder charge by a majority count of 9-3. They acquitted him unanimously of the alternative count of manslaughter by provocation. Senior Justice Jon Isaacs ordered Joseph's release because of the jury's finding. He had been in custody for almost two years.

Joseph turned himself into police shortly after the fatal shooting. He denied shooting Jeanty during an interview with police and he maintained his innocence at the trial. Bernard Ferguson represented Joseph. Darell Taylor and Abigail Farrington prosecuted.
