A botched carjacking off Fox Hill Road yesterday morning left police looking for the man responsible, who fled after his alleged victim reportedly opened fire on him with a shotgun. Police said the suspect stole a dark blue Dodge Magnum in the Sea Breeze area around 8 a.m.

Residents said the owner of the car shot at the suspect leaving bullet holes in the passenger side and windshield. Assistant Superintendent Cleophas Cooper said police responded to the incident around 8:30 a.m. Police said when they arrived on the scene, they met the Magnum with its bumper torn off in the middle of Sea Breeze Lane with a sliver Honda Accord right behind it with significant damage to the front right tire.

Residents said the Honda was pursuing the Magnum. Cooper said police did not know how many people were involved in the incident. "There is some information of an armed robbery earlier this morning [and] we know of one person involved," Cooper said. He added that there were no reports of injuries. However, police brought out the K-9 Unit to try and catch the suspect who reportedly fled in the direction of Fox Hill Road south.
