Hundreds of party-goers had to find another night spot after police shut down Club Waterloo for allegedly operating without a valid business license. Officers from the Northeastern Division closed the club Saturday night following an inspection, police said.

Waterloo was one of four clubs visited by police that evening. Officers also closed the Back Yard at Arawak Cay, Magic City at Westridge and Charlie's Club on East Bay Street for other alleged offenses. Police raided Club Copa Cabana on September 7. The officers shut down an alleged strip tease show and arrested eight Jamaican women and a Bahamian.

The Jamaican women pleaded guilty to public indecency and two of them admitted to offering sex for cash. Club owner Dennis Palomino, who is originally from Peru, denied a charge of allowing a public performance without a license. The only Bahamian woman, Chatel Hill, denied charges of gross public indecency and soliciting prostitution. They both go to trial before Deputy Chief Magistrate Carolita Bethell in January.
