Motorcyclist dies following collision with automobile

A 25-year-old man of Spring City, Abaco, succumbed to his injuries after his motorcycle collided with a car on the Don McKay Boulevard early Sunday morning.
According to police reports, the driver of the car, a 26-year-old resident of Murphy Town, was travelling north along Don McKay Boulevard, when the car collided with a motor cycle. A 25-year-old man of Spring City was riding the motorcycle. The car and the motorcycle were travelling in the opposite direction when the collision occurred shortly before 5 a.m.
The motorcyclist was severely injured and was given medical assistance at the scene, but died of his injuries.
Police officials at the Marsh Harbour Police Station encouraged motorists to drive with caution, care and within the speed limit.
Police press liaison officer Inspector Chrislyn Skippings stressed the need for motorists to obey all traffic laws, to be careful when overtaking, watch out for blind spots and wear seatbelts at all times.
"Drive to arrive alive," she told The Nassau Guardian yesterday.
"Motorcyclists are encouraged to wear their helmets at all times and to pay attention to all laws."
According to the police, a total of 14 traffic fatalities have been recorded so far for the year.
