BICA head:'Accountants must apply themselves'

More action needs to be taken by Bahamian accountants to align with global standards, with the head of a local organization suggesting that some professionals won't meet the expectations of employers.
President of The Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants Reece Chipman spoke with Guardian Business and said if Bahamians in the industry don't continue to improve their expertise they won't be able to meet the demands of their employers. With the country leaning towards more global transparency, he said the sector would be steps behind international standards if no efforts are made by accountants to keep up with them.
