As Bahamas Telecommunications Company(BTC)officials continued their assessments in an attempt to determine in more specific terms what caused the collapse of the cellular service system on Thursday, the Bahamas Electricity Corporation(BEC)yesterday distanced itself from the failure.
BTC officials have reported that a power issue on the key cellular switches at BTC's Camperdown station caused the meltdown.
The reference to a"power issue"caused some members of the public to believe that the problems were related to the BEC power supply, the electricity corporation said.
