'Power issues' cited for nationwide disruption of cellular services

CELLULAR service nationwide should be fully restored today after power issues reportedly caused yesterday's partial black-out.

According to the Bahamas Telecommunications Corporation (BTC), "a power issue on the key cellular switches at our Camperdown station has disrupted cellular service throughout the Bahamas."

Power was said to be restored yesterday morning, with full restoration efforts to continue throughout the day as "individual cell sites are brought back on line."
