BEC: Morepowercuts likely

The Bahamas Electricity Corporation yesterday warned that further power outages may become necessary as the state-run entity could be forced to shut down supplies in two-hour intervals.
In recent days, some consumers endured hours of service disruption.
The corporation advised that outages that occurred in certain areas on Wednesday evening were initially caused when two generators at its Clifton Pier Power Plant had to be"taken off load".
"Unfortunately, due to the nature of the defects experienced, the full remediation effort will take at least four days,"the corporation said.
