Mary Star of the Sea Catholic School to Celebrate 50 Years of Excellence in October

Mary Star of the Sea Catholic
School will be celebrating its 50 year anniversary this October. A grand
celebration is planned for the October weekend holiday. Many former
students and teachers from around the world are planning to attend and
renew they acquaintance with their beloved primary school.

School was opened in August of 1960 at a small house in Amusden Lane
in Freeport City. At its opening it has 20 pupils and 3 teaching nuns.
The school was the brainchild of  the Most Reverend Bishop Paul
Leonard Hagarty, Catholic Bishop of Nassau, Mr. Wallace Groves, and
the Grand Bahama Port Authority

In November 1961 the school
moved  to its present location. By 1985 the school had grown
to a population of 850 students and 48 staff members...
