Royal Bahamas Defence Force promotes more than 200 Officers and Marines

Commodore Roderick Bowe inspecting the Colour Guard at a recent Commander Defence Force DivisionCORAL HARBOUR BASE, Bahamas -- The Defence Force Commander, Commodore Roderick Bowe recently announced the promotions and advancements of a total of two hundred and forty-eight (248) Officers and Marines. Promotions and advancements were approved by the Minister of National Security, the Hon. Tommy Turnquest, with effect from October 1st 2011.
Heading the list of Senior Officers are Lieutenant Commanders Michael Sweeting, Nedley Martinbourgh and Loren Klein, who were all promoted to the rank of Commander. Senior Lieutenants Raymond King, Chappell Whyms, Renhault Darville, Henry Daxon, Frederick Brown and Whitfield Neely were all promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Twenty-one (21) Junior Officers were also promoted.
Advancements included seven (7) Chief Petty Officers, who were all advanced to Warrant Officers as follows: Lorenzo Williams, Drexter Green, Mario Bain, Gary Mackey, Dereck Christie, Lloyd Ferguson and Craig Frazier. Sixty-eight (68) Senior Rates and one hundred and forty-three (143) Junior Rates were also advanced during the exercise.
