Government High School, Woodcock Primary School and One-On-One Pre-school rushed on Bay Street with one thing in mind Thursday evening - to prove to Bahamians throughout the archipelago that they are the best Junior Junkanoo Parade groups in the nation.
And that's exactly what they did.
Government High won best overall school in the senior division in an awesome display which earned them 2,459 points.
C.R. Walker Senior High School was the runner up with 2,357 points; South Andros District High Schools came third with 2,321 points; C.C. Sweeting Senior High School placed fourth with 2,250 points; Anatol Rodgers High School placed fifth with 2,193 points and North Andros High School placed sixth with 2,145 points.
Government High won a triple this year also taking home the awards for best choreography (587 points) and best music (760 points). C.R. Walker placed second in the music (708 points) and choreography (575 points) sections.
South Andros District High Schools took the third place award for best music in the division with 700 points.
C.C. Sweeting took third place in the best choreography division with 563 points.
Anatol Rodgers won best banner with 34 points. C.R. Walker and South Andros District High Schools placed second and third respectively in that category.
Screams erupted from the crowd as Woodcock Primary took center stage in the primary school division with an energized and colorful display which earned them first place for best overall primary school (1,884 points), and best music (387 points).
St. Thomas More Catholic School came in second in the best overall primary school division with 1,855 points. Third place was taken by Stephen Dillet Primary School (1,788 points) which was followed by Albury Sayle Primary School in fourth place with 1,737 points.
St. Thomas More just missed out on first place for best music with 382 points, with third place being awarded to Stephen Dillet (363 points). Falling just eight points behind Stephen Dillet Primary for best music was Albury Sayle with 355 points.
One-On-One Pre-school junior junkanooers took hundreds of spectators to another level with thier impassioned display, not only coming out on top in the preschool division with 1,908 points, but also winning best banner (30 points) and best music (368 points).
Runner up in the preschool division for best overall preschool was St. Michael's Methodist Pre-school (1,598 points) and third place was awarded to Big Apple Pre-school (1,561 points) who were also awarded second place for best music (299 points) and best banner (23 points). For best banner, 2x2 Academy Pre-school (1,483 points) placed second, A Mother's Heart Pre-school (1,406 points) placed third and Careful Hands Pre-school (1,358 points) came in fourth.
