The Halloween Jam Fest held on October 30th, 2011 at The Lion’s Club, Thompson Boulevard proved to be a smashing success for organizers of the event Black Wolf Entertainment Promotions. The capacity crowd was not tricked, but was rather treated to a special cultural musical explosion from top names in the business like popular kompa band Nu Look and rap kreole artist/poet/rising movie star Patrick Marcelin better known as Mecca aka Grimo.

Nu Look held a very captive audience until the wee hours of the morning, paving the way for Mecca aka Grimo. Nu Look who has recently produced an album called Confirmation, three months ago took the audience through a medley of their hits before performing songs from the album, all of which the audience sang verbatim.

Lead singer Ederesse Stanis, more popularly known as Pipo, was elated to see the crowd’s response to the new album.” I am always happy when I am invited to perform in Nassau and was even happier to see the reaction of the crowd to the new music. Everywhere we go people are embracing the album. Some of the tracks from the new album that we performed are The New Look, Was It Meant To Be sung by band leader Arly Lariviere and When I Met You. We had a great time on stage and we are now looking forward to doing a bit of touring. We also enjoyed the delicious Bahamian food and are looking forward to our next performance here.

From the time Mecca arrived at the venue he created quite a stir and persons could be heard whispering, “Mecca is in the building,” and “Wow that is Grimo. Many approached him and requested their photo be taken with him whom he graciously consented, so after Nu Look’s high energy performance he ascended the stage and took the concert to an even higher crescendo.

Because of the lateness of the hour he only had a short time to perform to an already hyped crowd which was one of the things that caused them to call for more as he exited the stage. Immediately after the concert he thanked Black Wolf Entertainment for not only bringing him here but for also bridging the gap between kompa and rap kreole music. He thanked the large crowd for receiving him so well, not only his music but his poetry and his budding film career. He also thanked his many fans here in Nassau, Freeport and in Abaco. He credits his love of music and other Haitian artists like Wyclef Jean and others for inspiring him to do what he does. Currently Mecca is touring with the Creole Colours Tour, which consists of several rap kreole artists touring the world.

In addition Black Wolf’s representative, George Laguerre, said, “I was extremely pleased at the turnout for the concert and also appreciative of the well behaved crowd. Next on the agenda for Black Wolf, is a concert slated for later this month to be held in Nassau and in Freeport featuring another exciting top band called Carimi.”
