A joint initiative between some of the veteran icons in local women's basketball and some of the sport's rising stars have produced a means of financial assistance for those student athletes seeking higher education.

To assist some of these young women, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament was held last Saturday at the D W Davis Gymnasium to raise funds.

"The Bahamas has and is currently experiencing some harsh economic realities. It is no surprise therefore, that many Bahamians are finding it increasingly difficult to meet some of the very basic needs for their families," the group of players said in an official post-tournament press release.
