The eighth edition of the Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) is set for December 1-4, welcoming film industry professionals, emerging filmmakers and international visitors to Bahamian shores, but before BIFF organizers get to that point they will host an all-important fundraiser, BIFF's Black and White Masquerade Gala.

The inaugural mask obligatory, black and white dress masquerade event will be held at Jacaranda House, Parliament Street, on Saturday, October 1, at 7 p.m.  With live entertainment and a deejay playing until late, the minimum expected donation of $75 includes two complimentary cocktails and canapés by Alexandra Catering, organizers hope people will have a fabulous evening of food and entertainment while raising funds for the 2011 BIFF.  Tickets can be purchased at the BIFF office, or Post Boxes Etc. in Cable Beach.

The masquerade gala takes place in Jacaranda House, a beautiful old colonial house, which sits on 1.5 acres of land in the center of downtown Nassau. It is an oasis of calm and tranquility in the middle of a bustling city, which provides the perfect setting for the event.  About BIFF: The Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) is a non-profit organization committed to providing the local community and International festival-goers with a diverse presentation of films from The Bahamas and around the world. In addition to showcasing films that might not otherwise be released theatrically, BIFF provides unique cultural experiences, educational programs, and forums for exploring the past, present and future of cinema.

Since its inception in 2004 the Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) has developed into a prestigious and well-respected event throughout The Bahamas and around the world.  BIFF has been an overwhelming success, showcasing more than 500 films -- including films that have gone on to win Oscars such as Juno, Precious, and The Kings Speech.

BIFF has showcased more than 50 countries on the big screen, played host to  educational workshops for the youth and presenting Tributes to internationally renowned actors such as Alan Arkin, Johnny Depp, Laurence Fishburne, Daryl Hannah, Nicolas Cage, Roger Corman, Anna Faris and Naomie Harris. BIFF has become part of the social fabric within the Bahamian community and sought after by international participants and visitors. Each year is a memorable experience. Festival-goers come back year after year singing praises about what an intimate and exciting event the film festival is.

This year we are providing great opportunities: FREE screenings at Galleria JFK during December 1 - 4; Master classes in acting and directing by industry professionals and a new program this year called "First Look" for Emerging Bahamian Filmmakers sponsored by the Royal Bank of Canada.
