It has been many weeks since the arrival and departure of Hurricane Irene but around our beautiful isles of the Bahamas the signs of her coming can be seen in the ravaged landscape and destroyed homes. Cat Island was one of the many islands that took most of the brunt of the hurricane which resulted in unprecedented levels of destruction. It is this, which sparked the flame in veteran show and artist promoter, Patricia Chatti of Make Em Listen. [Make Em Listen organizes venues for young performers in the Bahamas to be heard.] A Cat Island native, Chatti began to organize an event that would allow some relief for the people of Cat Island.

Chatti said the idea for the event was sparked after a conversation with popular local performer, KB, immediately after the hurricane. As a result of his encouragement and his offer of help, Chatti contacted Minister of Youth & Culture, Charles Maynard about a venue. “He was in China and replied within 8 hrs,” she said. Two weeks later Chatti had managed to recruit over 26 sponsors 28 artists and 2 bands for the project. The concert will feature performances by the best and brightest in Bahamian entertainment such as: Ronnie Butler, K.B., Ancient Man, Papa Smurf, Julian, Sasha Dunn, Christian Massive, Terez Hepburn, Novie Pierre, Veronica Bishop, Nita, The Illest Band, Take OVA (Haitian Band) Alia Coley and so many more. The entire day is intended be one of good clean wholesome fun for the entire family. There will be a Kiddie Korner with bouncing castles, cartoon characters and whole area set aside for the kids. There will also be a fashion show to add to the festivities along with card and dominos games with cash prizes.

The organizers will have three drop off tents for food, clothing and house hold articles. “ We will accept as long as they are in working condition and we ask all persons to please do some spring cleaning if you haven’t worn some clothing or shoes in the past 6 months give them to someone who needs it,” Chatti said. The event is slated to begin at 12 noon at the Queen Elizabeth Sports Center’s annual carnival site. Show times are 4pm & 8pm The fashion show, starts at 7pm. “Make em Listen” will be live streaming this concert to New York and at the end of the year, will facilitate several viewing concert events throughout the United States to further promote and continue the drive for donations, the organizers have said. This is a long road and far exceeds, a “one time” event, according to Chatti.

The event is being made possible through the generous donations of “Make em Listen”, The Consulting Inc, Phils Food Service, Island Games, The Crab House Nautilus Water, Bahamas Local. Western Air, Exclusive Events, More 94 FM, Island Fm Sheraton Nassau Beach, The Falcons, Cia Monet,, Playhouse Entertainment ,Exclusive Entertainment, Bahamas Waste and many more. The proceeds from this event will go towards the aid of the people on Cat Island who has suffered from the ravages of Hurricane Irene so bring all the family and friends out to take part in the fun with a cause.
