NEW HIGHWAY DESIGN THREATENS LIVELIHOOD OF NEWSPAPER VENDOR We ask for your prayers and support as they seek alternatives to the delimma.

Ms. Brown's livelihood and only source of income is in jeopardy as a barrier is planned for the highway, preventing cars from pulling over to the side of the road to purchase newspapers.

As many of you may be aware, Ms. Ena Brown and her daughter Shonelle has been selling newspapers for many years in the area of Dolphin Drive/JFK.

The construction of the new highway forced them to move in recent times, and they were told a few days ago that a barrier will be put up so that cars can no longer pull to the side of the road for customers to purchase the newspaper. Ms. Brown pointed out that this barrier would also prevent cars that may have stalled from being pulled to the side so that traffic flows freely.

The authorities tell us that the design(s) of the highway are all purpose driven. Smooth traffic flow being a major component. To change them will be costly and interfere with the over all plan. Ms. Brown is being asked to seek to work as best she can with the plans.

We are asking for your prayers and support for Ms. Brown. The residents of highland park and West Bay have been served by them for many years.

One suggestion has been that more residents may want to subscribe to her newspaper delivery, but she does not have a vehicle at this time so an increase in house to house deliveries would be very difficult. If you have any ideas or suggestions or can offer your assistance in any way, please feel free to do so. Ms. Brown can be reached at 535-0729.
