NASSAU, BAHAMAS — A team of dedicated HG Christie employees recently demonstrated their commitment to a worthy cause by pedaling, walking, and running in the 16th Bahamas Hope Challenge (BHC) on March 2.

Established in 2006 as Ride for Hope and now known as the Bahamas Hope Challenge, this event has witnessed thousands of participants cycling and running through Eleuthera's streets to support cancer research. Over the years, it has amassed more than $4 million to aid cancer research, screening, and support initiatives in The Bahamas.

Consistently advocating for initiatives that benefit Bahamian communities, HG Christie not only fielded its own team of participants but also renewed its commitment as a platinum sponsor.

HG Christie President and Managing Broker John Christie expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "We're delighted to continue our support for the Bahamas Hope Challenge as a Platinum sponsor. Several members of our team from across The Bahamas joined the event in Governor's Harbour, recognizing not only its noble cause but also its role in fostering community spirit in one of the nation's fastest-growing markets."

Christie further noted his excitement about returning to Eleuthera, emphasizing the remarkable growth of the island's real estate market over the past two years. "Eleuthera's real estate market is thriving, with luxury listings in high demand and selling rapidly," he remarked.

The event on Saturday drew hundreds of Bahamians and residents, all eager to contribute their efforts to support the cause.

The Bahamas Hope Challenge receives widespread support from corporate entities across The Bahamas, with organizations forming teams, donating funds, and providing manpower for this noble cause. Participants include cancer survivors, individuals honoring loved ones lost to the disease, and those driven by their compassion for the cause.

In The Bahamas, cancer care and treatment pose significant financial challenges, necessitating a sustainable partnership between public and private stakeholders. Events like the Bahamas Hope Challenge play a crucial role in alleviating the financial burden on those undergoing treatment.

Funds raised by BHC support the Family Island Mammogram Screening Program, enabling women from underserved communities nationwide to undergo mammograms in New Providence at no cost. Over the years, more than 3,000 women have benefited from this program.

Additionally, Bahamas Hope Challenge sponsors the Treatment Assistance Fund, the only permanent fund in The Bahamas designed to help uninsured cancer patients cover the costs of diagnostic imaging or treatment protocols. These vital programs are sustained through the annual fundraising efforts of Bahamas Hope Challenge participants.
