RENALDO Gibson celebrated his 19th birthday yesterday. The milestone is a feat that was considered impossible after he was completely paralysed by a car accident three years ago.

Renaldo's clear voice and confident gestures were testimony to his family's unwillingness to give up on his recovery and his own conviction to realise his goals.

Unassisted by a ventilator, the teenager maintained his positive and humble demeanour as he reclined surrounded by loved ones at his family home in Fox Hill.
