Good morning.

Thank you for joining us today.

I want to acknowledge the presence of ourPrime Minister and other government officials,representatives from the diplomaticcommunity, and of course members of themedia. 

Press conferences of this nature are veryimportant and serve an important purpose ofproviding information to our citizens.

As a Government, the Davis administrationremains committed to transparentlycommunicating with Bahamians on issues ofnational importance.

For many Bahamians, a key concern iselectricity.

As outlined in our Blueprint for Change, webelieve that every Bahamian citizen deserveaccess to an affordable and consistent supplyof energy.

This fundamental view also applies tobusinesses – especially small and mediumsized companies who contribute to oureconomic growth and advancement.As the Minister of Energy and Transport, mymission is clear. 

I am committed to leading an energy transitionthat gives birth to a brighter, cleaner, and moresustainable future.

At the launch of the RFP for Family IslandsNew Energy Generation via Micro-Grids, CleanFuel & Renewables, I indicated that the RFPfor New Providence would be announcedshortly.

Well, the time has now come.

I am pleased to announce the launch of aRequest for Proposals (RFP) for NewProvidence Micro-Grids and New EnergyGeneration via Renewables with EnergyStorage Systems.
