NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Bahamas Power and Light (BPL) yesterday assured that it is able to fully meet Harbour Island's energy demands with sufficient spare capacity, following recent challenges to four of its six units which resulted in load shedding and disrupted business during the US Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Arnette Ingraham, BPL's communication manager, said to Eyewitness News: "We have six (1MW) units on Harbour Island. Last week, extraordinarily, four of them had challenges and this resulted in load-shedding for a few days. Incrementally, we were able to repair the units, eventually restoring full supply last Friday."

She added: "We have completed repairs to all of the units and now, not only are we fully meeting Harbour Island's power demands, but we have sufficient spare capacity in the event any of the units have to be taken offline for repairs or maintenance. We continue to work with our rental partner to ensure the units are serviced and fully operational ahead of the island's busy winter season."
