The Bahamas Agriculture & Marine Science Institute’s (BAMSI) One-2-One Tree Planting campaign was serenaded by the melodious notes of C.W. Sawyer Primary School’s Brass Band, with members of the student Garden Club, teachers, staff and Principal Joan Knowles welcoming organisers and BAMSI’s Executive Chairman Senator, the Hon. Tyrel Young earlier this week as they planted a Guinep Tree.

The C.W. Sawyer welcome committee was excited to be part of the first phase of the Institute’s One-2-One Tree Planting campaign that aims to plant one fruit tree in each constituency in New Providence and the Family Islands. The long-term goal of the campaign is to plant one tree for every Bahamian in an effort to build food security and environmental sustainability. Also on hand were McKell Bonaby, Member of Parliament for Mount Moriah, who encouraged students to work hard and do well in their studies to achieve their dreams and to be good stewards of the newly planted tree and the school’s expanding garden.
