In response to the robbery that occurred on Monday at The Bahamas Red Cross in New Providence, Baha Mar's non-profit organization, the Baha Mar Resort Foundation, presented Red Cross Director General Alicia Pinder with a $100,000 check yesterday.

The funds donated will aid in the replacement of the items stolen and support the Red Cross in additional areas of need.

This assistance is imperative for disaster relief and general support to members of the community, especially during hurricane season.

As a supporter of The Bahamas Red Cross, the Baha Mar Resort Foundation has been actively involved in the organization over the years, having assisted with multiple hurricane relief efforts and humanitarian needs by donating funds, goods and services to the community.

"When we read about the unfortunate event that took place earlier this week, we were saddened [by] this selfish and obscene crime and immediately knew action needed to be taken to help," said Graeme Davis, president of Baha Mar.

"This donation is a demonstration of our commitment and support at a crucial time to an organization that is vital to our community and is integral in providing a wide range of assistance to those in need."

As one of The Bahamas' largest employers, Baha Mar said it is dedicated to the island community and ensuring a brighter future for The Bahamas.

Built on three pillars - community, culture, and conservation - the Baha Mar Resort Foundation focuses on disaster relief, environmental preservation, youth development, cultural support and community contribution.

Since launching in 2017, the foundation has continued to support a wide array of environmental, health-related and youth educational organizations throughout The Bahamas.
