A 34-year-old Brazilian pilot was on Friday accused of smuggling 480 kilos of cocaine into the country on August 6.

Prosecutors say Andre Accosta, of Sao Paulo, knowingly smuggled $10 million of cocaine into Stella Maris, Long Island, on a private plane.

Accosta faced charges of conspiracy to possess drugs, conspiracy to import drugs, drug possession with intent to supply and drug importation at his arraignment before Magistrate Samuel McKinney.

He denied the charges through an interpreter.

McKinney denied Accosta bail because he was deemed a flight risk.

However, he can apply for bail in the Supreme Court.

Accosta's trial is set for November 8.
