A murder suspect denied killing a woman whom he described as his sexual partner, a Supreme Court jury heard yesterday.

Cameron Vincent is on trial for the murder of 18-year-old Altarnika Young on August 11, 2013.

She was found strangled in bushes near the St. Augustine's College Monastery.

DNA evidence presented in the trial showed that his semen was found in Young.

Sergeant 2199 Sherwin Braynen testified that he witnessed the interview of Vincent by ASP Sonny Miller.

During the interview, Vincent said that he and Young had a sexual relationship, but she was not his girlfriend.

However, he said that he could not recall the date of their last sexual encounter.

Braynen said that Vincent admitted that he walked with Young from her home through a shortcut, but he denied that he killed her.

He also admitted going to the home of a person called Addison, but Vincent denied telling Addison that he'd killed Young.

In response to a question from lawyer Cassie Bethel, Braynen confirmed that other people were questioned about Young's death.

He was unable to say whether Addison had also been arrested during the investigation.

Forensic pathologist Dr. Caryn Sands testified that Young died as a result of manual strangulation.

She said that any DNA deposited would have occurred around the time of death.

Jacqueline Burrows and Rashied Edgecombe are the prosecutors.

The trial continues before Justice Neil Brathwaite on Friday.
