Jury chosen in rape case

A jury was yesterday impaneled to hear the case of a man accused of raping and robbing a woman who was taking a walk.

Prosecutors allege that Christopher Forbes, 26, committed the crimes on May 6, 2022.

His alleged victim woke up that morning and decided to go for a walk.

Prosecutors say the woman encountered Forbes who was armed with a cutlass. He allegedly forced her into bushes where he raped her twice.

He also allegedly robbed her of two cellphones and a pair of AirPods with a combined value of $1,250.

Forbes, who is on remand, has pleaded not guilty at his trial before Justice Jeanine Weech-Gomez.

Uel Johnson and Tyler Murray are the prosecutors.

Forbes has rejected two court-appointed lawyers and has decided to represent himself.
