A new restauranteur is giving Elizabeth on Bay new life, with a Mexican food concept paired with a cocktail list specializing in tequilas that are priced all the way up to $7,500 per bottle, a statement on the new restaurant said.
Salsa Mexican Bar and Grill is the brainchild of Ryan Delva and his partners, who say they understood the need for authentic Mexican food in the country. Delva said advice from locals led them to realize that this cuisine was missing from the Bahamian restaurant scene in Nassau.
"We've been listening to the feedback of Bahamian foodies for a while regarding the absence of a restaurant dedicated to solely authentic Mexican cuisine," said Delva.
"We're happy that we were able to answer that call by providing a space with a beautiful view and great ambiance to enjoy just that."
According to the statement, the restaurant has the country's most extensive list of tequilas, with more than 100 types to choose from.
"The tequila prices range from $9 per shot to $300 per shot, or $7500 per bottle for the more seasoned tequila palettes," the statement said.
The restaurant had its official opening last weekend.
"Our opening night attendance exceeded our expectations," said Delva.
"It was fun and we got some great feedback from the attendees. We're also proud to get a unique Bahamian artist in on some of the design features and we're looking forward to sharing our tequila holdings with locals and international visitors alike. We hope to become the place to enjoy delicious and authentic Mexican food and the best tequila in The Bahamas."
The statement explained that the restaurant's space features not only Mexican culture and design, but also wall art by Bahamian artists.
The new establishment is located dockside in the Elizabeth on Bay plaza downtown and opens Wednesdays to Sundays from 12 pm to 12 am.
The principals say reservations are encouraged, though walk-ins are welcome.
