Viewing the Beauties Around the World

Fri, Sep 9th 2011, 11:14 AM

It's that time of year again when over 50 beauties gather from around the world to vie for the coveted Miss Universe title. And whether you are a pageant enthusiast or not, this year's event, which will be televised on Monday, September 12 in Brazil, is anticipated to be an even hotter ticket this year as The Bahamas' own promising representative, Anastagia Pierre, struts her stuff like the world has never seen.

If you are already excited about this event and can't imagine it getting any more fun-filled then think again because you are in for a treat. Two major viewing parties that the pageant enthusiast or fun-lover will not want to miss will kick off in grand style to make this event a dream come true.

Feeling the Elements

If you don't want to stay home and watch the pageant the old fashioned way then make this night a family night-out at Mario's Bowling and Entertainment Centre where you can enjoy the viewing in the Elements Nightclub while letting the kids have fun bowling or in the arcade for an hour or two.

There is nothing like being surrounded by other enthusiasts whose excitement makes the show even more energized. Organizer and president of the Miss Bahamas organization, Michelle Malcolm, says it's a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see if this year's contestant has that special magic to make The Bahamas shine like never before.

"We have big hopes for Anastagia. She has proven to be a very good representative in the pageant so far and we are so proud of her," she says.

"So putting on this event where we want people to come together to enjoy this occasion in unison is a really special thing. People gather all around town for things like the Super Bowl and the NBA playoffs so it's just as fitting that we gather for something we have stakes in."

Malcolm anticipates the event will be lively and exciting from beginning to end. Besides watching the stellar pageant throughout the evening, four lucky attendees will be awarded all-access passes to the 2012 Miss Universe pageant and preliminary events. This is not something fashion and pageant fans want to miss out on, so be there or be square.

Simmer Down at The Marley Resort

In you are up for a more outdoorsy experience then you will love to be at the viewing party at the Simmer Down outdoor restaurant at the Marley Resort. This event, hosted by Kedar Clarke and Kendra Wilkinson, is expected to be dynamic. From the hype music all night to the amazing prizes to be had and to awesome food on the menu, you are bound to have a good time.

"This may not be the official viewing party but this is where the party is at," says Clarke. "Miss Universe was an event a few friends and I would view together annually and this year due to circumstances we decided to do it bigger and better.

"Anastagia is a great representative and friend who we all should be supporting over here," he continues. "It would be a shame that she could make it so far in the pageant and maybe even win but everyone finds out the next day because they didn't care enough to watch it. With that in mind we wanted to make it a big thing and we just want people to come out and have good, clean fun while watching the event."

Prizes to be won throughout the evening include a dinner package and lunch package at the Simmer Down restaurant and a night-stay at the Marley Resort, among others. Prizes for participating and correctly predicting the stage-by-stage outcome for the pageant's line-up will also be available.

Fashion fanatic Keyshalla McWilliams says she will definitely be where the party is at this Monday and can't wait to see the amazing show the pageant is anticipated to be this year.

"I feel the Bahamas has the best chance of really doing something amazing this year," says the 24-year-old. "Anastagia is ready and really shining over in Brazil. If we don't win I feel we will walk away with something. It will be that good. I really am a big fan of these kinds of things and it's even more fun when you can watch it with friends. This is going to be just great."

Thirty-year-old Travise Rollins says she is ecstatic about the event and is glad more people are becoming interested in it.

"I never saw an official viewing party or rather parties prior to this event and I am really looking forward to this," she says.

"In the past we have become so lax and not as supportive of our girls like we should. We freely support things like Super Bowl and the NBA finals which has nothing to do with us but don't put as much support in something like this," she continues. "I think it is worthwhile and we really may have a good chance of doing extremely well this time around. This isn't something we should be missing out on. I will be glued to the television no matter where I decide to watch the show, I know that much."
