Premier Listings Group (PLG), a luxury vacation rentals and real estate listings company which launched last year, has published an analysis of vacation home rental trends for The Bahamas for the period July 2022 to July 2023, that gives tourism stakeholders valuable information on vacation rental trends, the company said in a statement about the data.

The site does not explain if the data is gleaned solely from its own listings, but the data suggests the properties used in the study are larger properties that have the capacity for larger groups of people.

One of the data sets in the report reveals that more than 40 percent of bookings were for groups that were two to six people, while a little more than 35 percent of the bookings had parties between seven and ten people, and a little more than 15 percent of bookings had groups of 11 to 15 people.

The data also shows important data like the median and average days from inquiry about a vacation rental, to arrival in The Bahamas.

According to the report, the median days from inquiry to arrival were just below 150, while the average days were almost 175.

"The variations observed... offer insights into the planning behavior of travelers. The median provides a robust measure, while the average captures the overall trend," the report states.

"Understanding these trends is vital for stakeholders in the travel and hospitality industry. It allows for alignment with travelers' planning patterns, timely marketing campaigns, inventory management, and the creation of personalized pre-arrival experiences."

The report also breaks out total average group size by month; percentage of inquiries by month; and length of stay data.

GWD Investments launched Premier Listings Group last September, listing high-end vacation rental and real estate in The Bahamas. PLG explained last year that it plans to stock its listing with properties from vacation destinations across the world, but will start with The Bahamas.

"Through multiple partnerships, Premier Listings Group will initially provide selected listings for vacation rentals in The Bahamas, followed by real estate listings," the company's statement said last year.

"PLG will hand select the best vacation rentals throughout The Bahamas, including well known Exuma beach house rentals such as Bajamar Exuma, Ba Roos Exuma, Thevine House Exuma, Lady Blue Exuma, Sandbar House Exuma, Abaco Bliss and more.

"Premier Listings Group's plans of expansion include properties in the Caribbean, Mexico, the Mediterranean, Hawaii, the Florida Keys and other well-known travel destinations for US travelers."

The government has prompted more Bahamians to move into the vacation rental space, as a way of not only building a business and supplementing their income, but also a way of adding more room inventory to The Bahamas' tourism product.
