A new art and crafts gallery set to open will showcase an exceptional collection of indigenous arts and crafts, handcrafted by local artisans, and promises to be a treasure trove of authentic expressions, from stunning woodcarvings depicting ancestral stories to vibrant paintings capturing the essence of Bahamian landscapes.

Bonaventia "Bonnie" Culmer and Moya Strachan, friends and former schoolmates have teamed up to bring this uniquely Bahamian art gallery, Native Arts and Crafts on Bay Gallery to Bay Street. They wanted to have a space for more Bahamian art and crafts to be showcased.

"We are thrilled to unveil Native Arts and Crafts on Bay Gallery, a place where Bahamian creativity and cultural pride find a vibrant home," said Culmer and Strachan.

"Art has the power to bridge gaps and connect people from all walks of life. With this gallery, we aim to share the soulful narratives of our talented artists with the world, inviting everyone to experience the spirit of The Bahamas."

Culmer and Strachan will officially open the doors to the gallery on Saturday, August 12 between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The gallery's launch the duo said coincides with a renewed commitment by The Bahamas to embrace the arts as a catalyst for economic growth and cultural appreciation.

"From the intricate straw work to the mesmerizing beats of Junkanoo, the Native Arts and Crafts on Bay Gallery will be a testament to the living tapestry of Bahamian culture," said Culmer and Strachan. "Whether you seek to enrich your collection or simply immerse yourself in an extraordinary cultural experience, this gallery will be your gateway to the heart and soul of The Bahamas."

The duo encourages locals and visitors to join them in "celebrating the majesty of Bahamian artistry and embark on an unforgettable journey into the world of Native Arts and Crafts on Bay Gallery."

They invite people to explore, celebrate, and connect with the soul of The Bahamas.
