The Bahamas Culinary & Arts Festival presented by Baha Mar returns

An unforgettable weekend of unique culinary and cultural events from exclusive dinners and tastings with master chefs to intimate cultural conversations and more are on tap for The Bahamas Culinary & Arts Festival presented by Baha Mar.

Each experience will be brought by an unparalleled lineup of world-renowned and Bahamian chefs, artists, and performers during the October 27-29 festival.

The Bahamas Culinary & Arts Festival will showcase the best in culinary and artistic expression headlined by world-renowned chef talent including Marcus Samuelsson of Marcus at Baha Mar Fish + Chop House, Katsuya Uechi of Katsuya, and Dario Cecchini of Carna.

Baha Mar's chefs will be joined by Bahamian chef Simeon Hall Jr.; Food Network stars Amanda Freitag, Carla Hall, Geoffrey Zakarian, Scott Conant, and Michelle Bernstein, as well as social media star and chef Eitan Bernath.

Also in attendance will be the country's foremost spirits expert and author Noah Rothbaum, wine experts Ted Diamantis, Fernando Beteta and Ken Fredrickson, the team behind the award-winning Broken Shaker bar and sponsors from Antinori Wines.

"Building off last year's success, we are thrilled to bring back The Bahamas Culinary & Arts Festival," said Graeme Davis, president, Baha Mar. "This event holds a special place in our hearts as it showcases Baha Mar as the leading culinary and artist-driven destination in the Caribbean.

"Last year's event was a must-visit weekend, and we can't wait to commemorate this year with even more celebratory experiences and innovative programming hosted by an all-star roster of tastemakers."

The October 27-29 festival kicks off with a welcome beach party hosted by SLS Baha Mar. It is expected to be an entertainment and culinary celebration that brings together the best of SLS Baha Mar's chefs alongside Samuelsson for an authentic epicurean experience, drawing on the country's rich history, creativity, and fresh, locally sourced farm-and-sea-to-table ingredients.

Throughout the weekend's events, Baha Mar's resident and guest chefs will host a schedule of unique and intimate master classes, where festival goers can choose their own adventure from a variety of culinary experiences.

The Bahamas Culinary & Arts Festival will also bring back the two-day Expo, October 28-29, where guests can partake in live entertainment and Bahamian hospitality with onstage chef demos from top talent including Carla Hall, Geoffrey Zakarian, and Scott Conant.

"FUZE", the showcase for Caribbean-inspired art facilitated by John Cox, executive director of art and culture at Baha Mar has partnered with the festival for the art programming.

Decentralizing the art market and creating a focus for Bahamian art and the surrounding regions, FUZE will gather pioneers to showcase a vast collection of art work from seven different Caribbean nations, and feature multi-disciplinary creative programming including artist-led panel discussions, guided tours, live printmaking demonstrations, and a specially curated film series.

FUZE will showcase various works from renowned artists and galleries, including Lavar Munroe, Nadia Huggins, Christopher Cozier, Lucy Garcia, Alice Yard, Fresh Milk, and David Gumbs Installation.

Samuelsson said this year's Bahamas Culinary & Arts Festival is going to be an incredible convergence of culinary and beverage talents and artists together for an epic weekend.

"This is an incredible opportunity to experience the flavors and soul of the island with our Bahamian friends and visiting guests," said Samuelsson.

Cecchini is an award-winning celebrity butcher from the village of Panzano in the Chianti region of Tuscany, Italy. Carna, located at Baha Mar is a contemporary steakhouse concept helmed by the legendary butcher.

Uechi is one of only a small select group of Master sushi chefs in the United States and is recognized as one of the major trendsetters in the world of Japanese cuisine. Uechi currently has 25 restaurants with Katsu-ya Group Ince. And SBE.

Freitag, chef, television personality and author has become a culinary maven whose mission is to make cooking more approachable. She shows that making delicious food can be fun and easy in the home kitchen.

Hall, a trained chef, believes food connects us all, a belief she strives to convey through her work, her cooking, and her daily interactions with others.

Conant is a two-time James Beard Award-winning chef, cookbook author, and TV personality. With a career spanning more than 35 years, he brings a deft touch and unwavering passion to creating culinary experiences with thoughtful hospitality and soulful cuisine.

Zakarian is a globally renowned chef, restaurateur, executive TV producer, TV host and bestselling cookbook author. He is passionate about inspiring, teaching, and sharing the art of living well through his social media platforms.

Bernstein is a fixture in the culinary world - both in restaurants and the media spotlight.

Hall Jr. the Bahamian on the squad, is truly eclectic, whether conjuring up out-of-the-box culinary experiences, telling authentic Bahamian food stories, or introducing the world to Bahamian food culture. He focuses on mentoring young chefs while paying homage to the history of Bahamian and Caribbean cuisine.

Fredrickson is a member of the International Court of Master Sommeliers and founding partner of High Road Spirits, an international importer focused on artisan spirit brands.

Beteta is one of only 269 Master Sommeliers in the world. He was named one of America's Best New Sommeliers by Wine & Spirits magazine and featured on both Crain's Chicago Business's and Wine Enthusiast's lists of "40 under 40".

Rothbaum is head of Cocktails & Spirits for Flavira, a premium spirits membership club, as well as co-host of their podcast Fix Me a Drink.

Bernath, an award-winning chef, and author, TV personality, entertainer, is one of the youngest ever contestants on Food Network's Chopped. He is the CEO of Eitan Productions, the principal culinary contributor for the Drew Barrymore Show, and contributor to The Washington Post, Food & /Wine, Saveur, and Delish. His cookbook, Eitan Eats the World is a bestseller.

Cox, the Placemaker for the Rosewood group of hotels was recently named chairman of the Board of Directors for the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas, is an artist whose mixed-media paintings and assemblages use familiar objects to reference distant places and ideas. He has played a major role in Bahamian art culture as an educator, curator and cultural activist, helping to grow and redefine art in The Bahamas.

Baha Mar officials said this year's festival will also feature a show-stopping musical performance, which they will announce in the coming weeks.
