BTC officially launches fiber to home in East Grand Bahama

BTC has taken fiber to home to East Grand Bahama providing faster internet service, officials announced on Friday, July 7 during a press conference at the Government Dock.

On hand was the Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Ginger Moxey, who said it was an exciting day for East Grand Bahama as this was a long time coming. On behalf of the government, she congratulated the management team and staff, who have the new service.

Also on hand were Member of Parliament for East Grand Bahama, Kwasi Thompson, who also congratulated BTC for providing the much-needed service.

The police station and clinic in the area are already connected.

Chief Executive Officer of BTC, Sameer Bhatti, said “We are clearly in the broadband era. You look at the consumption patterns on broadband and it’s growing double digit percent per year. We need to do our part as a modern communications provider to bring the best technology to support that trajectory.”

He explained that fiber is faster and more reliable than the alternatives.

Also present during the press conference were Dominic Petty, Executive Senior Manager in Grand Bahama and Board Member Director, Parkco Deal.
