The 'Road to 50' transformed to a runway of Bahamian designer inspiration at the "Evening of Culture and Couture" fashion show, held at Baha Mar Convention Center on June 9, 2023.

The 'Golden Jubilee: Evening of Culture and Couture,' under the patronage of Dame Marguerite Pindling, featured garment creations of 12 Bahamian designers as a part of an events countdown to The Bahamas 50th Independence Anniversary celebration, July 10.

The Hon. Pia Glover-Rolle, Minister of State for the Public Service, paid homage to Bahamian fashion legend Brynda Knowles and commended her for her commitment to the business and readiness to mentor others.

“She has made a tremendous contribution to the creative arts and the fashion and beauty industry of our nation,” she said.

The fashion show featured Bahamian-inspired creations from designers: Narvardo Dawkins, Theodore Elyett, Cardell McClam, Apryl Jasmine, Anthea Bullard, David Rolle, Phylicia Evans, Sabrina Frances, Kevin Evans, Patrice Lockhart, Cedric Bernard, and Judy Deleveaux.

Her Excellency Leslia Miller-Brice, chair of the National Independence Secretariat, honored the event's patron, Dame Marguerite Pindling, for her role in fostering the development of The Bahamas' fashion sector.

“You have set the standard for Bahamian beauty and fashion.  And we salute you tonight,” she said.

H.E. Miller-Brice also expressed gratitude to the public for supporting all of the events for the 'Road to 50' thus far, and encouraged continued support as the 50th Independence Anniversary celebration nears.

“I look forward to seeing all of you at Clifford Park when our Flag, which is currently making its way around the family of islands, is hoisted for the 50th time in an independent Bahamas,” she said.
