Come next year, the Sunshine Insurance Marathon Bahamas will be on the agenda again. The 12th running of the marathon, half marathon, and four-person relay will be held January 14, 2024. New to the 2024 version is the Pink Run 5K (five-kilometer), Bahamas. All races will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2024, making for a truly incredible 'series of events', all finishing at Western Esplanade/Arawak Cay.

Held on the idyllic island of the capital of The Bahamas, New Providence, which is immersed in history, natural charm, beauty, white-sand beaches, aquamarine waters and hospitable and welcoming residents, Marathon Bahamas has become arguably the pre-eminent endurance event of the country. This year, the event featured runners from 19 countries and 31 states across the United States and is supported by a large volunteer contingent from every walk of Bahamian life.

President of Sunshine Insurance Paul McWeeney said he is "very excited" about the upcoming race series.

"Marathon Bahamas is a Boston qualifier as well as a Wanda Age Group World Rankings event, which means that Marathon Bahamas event planning and execution will continue to be held to a world-class standard. We are up to this challenge and look forward to another successful series of events and a

positive destination experience for our many international participants."

Sunshine Insurance, in its role as the lead sponsor and organizer for Marathon Bahamas, is committed to fostering strategic relationships with organizations for the advancement of breast cancer awareness, research and treatment, said a representative.

Pink Run 5K, Bahamas is an event not only to raise money for the beneficiaries but also to bring attention to the dreaded disease of breast cancer that affects so many of Bahamian women. One hundred percent of the money raised by Pink Run 5K, Bahamas will remain in The Bahamas to fund breast cancer and women's health programs.

Beneficiaries for the events are Cancer Society of The Bahamas, Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, Sister Sister Breast Cancer Support Group and Cancer Society of The Bahamas Grand Bahama Chapter.

Marathon Bahamas is the brainchild of Sir Franklyn Wilson, one of The Bahamas' pre-eminent businessmen. In addition to being chairman of Sunshine Holdings Limited (SHL), one of the oldest and largest conglomerates in The Bahamas, Sir Franklyn also sits as chairman for Focol Holdings Ltd., distributor of fuel at Shell in The Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands; chairman of Arawak Homes Ltd., a real estate development company; chairman of Sunshine Insurance (Agents & Brokers); chairman of Royal Star Assurance Ltd., one of the largest general insurers in The Bahamas and the Cayman Islands; chairman of Sunshine Finance Ltd.; and chairman of Jack's Bay Developers Ltd., a substantial land developer on Eleuthera, The Bahamas.

Marathon Bahamas boasts miles of history, beauty, scenery, an ocean front start and finish, affordable accommodations and an incredible family vacation destination.
