Flamingo Yoga in The Gardens Fundraiser

Wed, May 24th 2023, 11:30 AM

Pedi In A Bag, the newly release Bahamian At-Home Pedicure Company, and Ardastra Gardens & Wildlife Conservation Centre are excited to announce a groundbreaking partnership that brings an extraordinary experience to Bahamians, residents, and visitors - Flamingo Yoga In The Gardens. This special event celebrates World Yoga Day and aims to raise funds for the Conservation Fund, providing guests with a unique opportunity to relax and engage in yoga alongside the renowned flock of Flamingoes, resulting in an unforgettable experience.

Taking place on June 17th, the Saturday before World Yoga Day, the Exclusive Pedi In A Bag & Ardastra Garden Flamingo Yoga In The Garden event promises to be a one-of-a-kind celebration. Pedi In A Bag founder, Randia Coakley, expressed her desire to give back and make a real impact, envisioning a unique experience that allows individuals to engage in self-care and unwind.  "I recently had the incredible opportunity to experience Flamingo Yoga at a local hotel, and it absolutely blew me away. However, I realized that this unique practice was not open to the public, but limited to hotel guests, making it costly, when you include the hotel nights, with prices reaching hundreds of dollars. This sparked the idea of finding a way to bring this transformative experience to the masses in an affordable and inclusive manner while also giving back to the community." Thus leading to the perfect partnership between Ardastra Gardens and Pedi In a Bag to create this one time experience Flamingo Yoga In The Gardens

This event offers the public a rare opportunity to connect with the beautiful Caribbean Flamingoes, which have been aptly described as "Ballerinas in Pink" by National Geographic, in a way Ardastra Gardens has never done before. The proceeds from this event will directly contribute to the Garden’s current fundraising campaign to enhancing the flamingos' breeding habitat, ensuring the continued hatching of new flamingo chicks for years to come. Ardastra Gardens, dependent on philanthropic support, relies on the generosity of the public to meet its operational needs and fulfill its educational and conservation missions.

Ardastra Gardens, in collaboration with the Bahamian Government and Bahamas National Trust, has successfully established an ex-situ breeding program to save the Caribbean Flamingo from extinction. As the flock continues to grow, the birds have been conditioned to "march" for visitors, providing a unique opportunity to educate the public about their natural history and the threats they face.

The Flamingo Yoga In The Gardens event will take place on June 17th at 8:00 am, featuring a morning yoga session that allows participants to visit the park before opening hours. The experience, priced at $89, includes a Keepsake Yoga Mat, Photo Op, a 45-minute session led by professional yoga instructor Mykah Smith. Mykah Smith, the viral sensation yoga & hoop instructor, has captivated audiences worldwide with her mesmerizing skills, spreading her expertise from Portugal to every corner of the globe.

"Hendrew Hailey, the Animal Manager of Ardastra Gardens, expressed his gratitude for Pedi In A Bag's assistance in creating this rare and exceptional experience to raise funds. With the conservation centre facing challenges due to the extended closure during the COVID-19 pandemic, the event provides much-needed support and helps further their educational and conservation efforts."
