The New Duff shines alongside celebrity chefs at Atlantis Wine & Food Festival

Last weekend saw the arrival of some of the most notable celebrity chefs in North America for the first-ever Nassau ParadiseIsland Wine & Food Festival, hosted and produced by Atlantis resort. The New Duffwas one of the few 100% Bahamian vendors invited to participate in thestar-studded weekend-long event which culminated in a crowd rousing performanceby music superstar, Wyclef Jean.

The New Duff, headed by Chef Owner Kendrick Delaney Jr., provided deliciousbites alongside Chef JJ Johnson, Alex Guarnaschelli, and the Food Network’s Aceof Cakes himself - Duff Goldman, who visited the store on West Bay Street. Thedessert mogul chatted with staff and sampled some items from the popular menu.Goldman commented, “The duff is absolutely delicious. I can’t wait to see how farthese guys go and I definitely plan to keep in touch with them.”

The innovative Bahamian company participated in the Cake & Ice Cream Social,hosted by Goldman, as well as the Jerk Jam where they also got the attention ofcelebrity chef JJ Johnson. Chef Owner Delaney shared, “Being able to showcaseour guava duff and jerk chicken bao buns paired with our Guavalava hot sauce tolocal and international foodies was a delight and we were happy to engage with thestar chefs, all who are business owners, and get feedback on their own trajectory inthe culinary world. The bits of knowledge we’re garnered from our engagements atthe festival will be invaluable to our company moving forward and will push us tocontinue to be innovative.”

Lazar Delorenzo Charlton, co-owner business development, added, “Not only didwe have an absolute blast at the festival, but we were so grateful to Atlantis forincluding our company and other hard-working Bahamian business owners in thisinaugural event. The New Duff principal team, inclusive of co-owner Operations Ryan Lightbourne,aim to continue their plans to take their now wildly popular guava duff product andeventually their Guavalava and Pineapple Pow hot sauce line to the NorthAmerican market. The bustling store on West Bay Street now boasts an outdoorpatio and continues to be a staple in the food and beverage tour circuit for cruiseship and hot visitors.
