A 48-year-old man of Nassau Village who was caught with 4.11 pounds of marijuana was yesterday fined $8,000 to avoid spending four years in prison.
Mario Philip Forbes pleaded guilty to possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply at his arraignment before Senior Magistrate Derence Rolle-Davis.
Police officers were conducting inquiries when they saw Forbes standing in front of a home on Samson Street.
Forbes, who was holding a black and yellow bag, ran into the home.
The officers followed Forbes and caught him inside a bedroom. When they searched the bag, they found six packages of marijuana with a total weight of 4.11 pounds.
Forbes was allowed to pay $1,500 towards the fine to secure his release. He's to pay off the balance in monthly payments of $400.
Sergeant M. Harvey was the prosecutor and Alphonso Lewis Jr. represented Forbes.
