TVI & Nova Scotia Community College Sign Memorandum of Understanding for Collaboration

The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI) and Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to explore opportunities for collaboration to their mutual benefit on Monday, February 27, 2023.

The MOU, valid for three years, outlines several potential collaborations between the organizations including, student and faculty exchanges; resource sharing; staff development and training and the development of new programmes, including renewable energy.  BTVI hopes to gather momentum on its proposed renewable and sustainable energies pillar by learning from NSCC's Centre for the Built Environment, which brings together trades and technologies, and is touted as a "focal point to help the Nova Scotia construction industry develop leading-edge environmental knowledge and sustainable practices that are in growing demand worldwide."

BTVI provides career training which equips its graduates to be workforce ready. The institution offers over 40 industry-certified diploma and certificate courses, in addition to Associate of Applied Science degrees at campuses in New Providence and Grand Bahama and at several instructional sites throughout the Family Islands, several of which are poised to become full campuses in the coming months.

Many of BTVI's programmes have international certifications attached. Further, BTVI offers Professional Development Courses (PDCs) and specialized training for organizations, which are a part of its continuing education training.

NSCC is a community college serving the province of Nova Scotia, Canada, through a network of 14 campuses. The college offers over 140 certificate and diploma programmes, ranging from 18 weeks to 3 years.

BTVI has memoranda of understanding and articulation agreements with colleges in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
