Man gets 13 years for manslaughter after successful appeal

FREEPORT: A father of two who fatally stabbed a man has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for manslaughter after successfully appealing his murder conviction.

Arnold Kelly, an ex-Defence Force officer, was retried for murder and convicted early this year of the manslaughter of Franko Braynen and causing grievous harm to Gregory Bethel, who were both stabbed in October, 2004.

The husband and father of two was initially convicted of murder and sentenced to death, but appealed the case.
