Man dies in hospital after South Beach shooting

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — A 51-year-old man died in the hospital yesterday after he was found lying on the front porch of a South Beach home with gunshot injuries.

According to police, a family member was alerted to the sounds of gunshots sometime around 1.30am in the area of Kenilworth Avenue, South Beach.

"Upon making checks outside of the residence, the victim was found lying on the front porch suffering from gunshot injuries," read the police report.

"It was reported, occupants of a white van were seen speeding off from the scene after the victim was discovered. The victim was transported to the hospital via private vehicle for medical assistance. However, he succumbed to his injuries while in the hospital."

The police report added: "Police are appealing to members of the public, who may have information that can assist police with their investigation into this matter to contact police at 911/919, the Criminal Investigations Department at 502-9991/2 or CRIMESTOPPERS @ 328-TIPS."
