NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Under dark skies and tobacco fog, brandy lovers and socialites tasted for the first time the newest member of the St-Rémy Collection.

Described as smooth, oaky, and full of body, the St-Rémy Signature made its national debut recently at Fusion Superplex.

St-Rémy Signature was introduced simultaneously in Jamaica and The Bahamas, which are regarded as "leaders when it comes to trends throughout the Caribbean," according to Bahamian Brewery Regional Business Development Manager, Keiani Thomas.

"We know the love that Bahamians have for cognac and dark spirits. We truly believe that with the growth of the brand category and the strength of the St-Rémy portfolio, this addition of Signature will not only strengthen the brand as a whole but will be a game changer for the brand category today," Thomas said.

Brandy connoisseurs may be familiar with the Rémy VSOP and Rémy XO brandy, which are more popular in this market. Although they all share notes of vanilla and fruit, the Rémy Signature has more nut and butter, coconut, and almond flavors.

While the St-Rémy VSOP has played a major role in the 'cocktail culture' in the Caribbean with its mixability and complex characteristics, the St-Rémy XO has led the brandy category for about a year. St-Rémy Signature is predicted to stand out as the perfect marriage of both blends with a more robust finish.

As one sampler described it, "it's not overpouring and has a smooth walk across the palate."

Nearly 200 attendees sipped on St-Rémy signature cocktails—or on the rocks, as is recommended—as they learned more about the brand. The offerings included the Signature French Old Fashioned, which includes a dash of bitters and three dashes of orange bitters, and the Signature Rose, which includes lemon, grenadine, hibiscus syrup, and egg white.

Bahamian Brewery Brand Manager Angela Moss expressed the St-Rémy Signature brings the French lifestyle to The Bahamas. "Each and every drop of St-Rémy evokes French living," she said.

Known as the capital of elegant, aromatic wines, France is stated to have "premier production qualities, mainly due to its the soil and grape varieties planted in its vineyards" in a statement from the company.

The process starts with the selection of a wide range of French grape varieties from France's best vineyards, like Bordeaux, Burgundy & Languedoc-Roussillon. Its style is characterized by a wide variety of vines and territories, which is where the complex and diverse aromatic notes are derived. The St- Rémy Signature is no different, said Moss. "The St- Rémy Signature style is about roundness, subtlety and that surprisingly long finish for a brandy," she said.
