A man and a woman have been sentenced for their roles in the murder of ZNS radio host Scott Richards.
Richard Bevans, who shot and robbed Richards, was sentenced to 48 years in prison, while his lover, Raquel Johnson, who lured him to Bonefish Pond, was sentenced to 28 years' imprisonment.
Justice Cheryl Grant-Thompson completed the penalty phase of their trial on Wednesday.
The nine-member jury delivered their guilty verdicts last July.
Officers on patrol at the nature reserve found Richards' bullet-riddled body on the morning on May 26, 2016.
His silver Dodge Durango sport utility vehicle was found a short distance from his body, and the vehicle appeared to have been searched.
Just outside the vehicle, on the pavement, the officers found coins, bank cards, and identification cards bearing the name of the deceased.
At the entrance of the boardwalk, the officers found a towel and baby wipes near a garbage bin. The officers also discovered a condom wrapper and a pair of slippers near an entrance road leading into the park in addition to a skirt on the side of the road.
The prosecution relied on the convicts' confessions at the trial. However, they both repudiated the statements attributed to them, claiming they were coerced.
Grant-Thompson noted that neither convict showed any remorse.
In passing judgment on the pair, Grant-Thompson said, "Scott Richards was robbed, shot and left to die on the ground, like an animal. There appears to be no provocation involved. It was a cold-blooded, callous act for which neither the convict Bevans nor convict Johnson have shown any remorse. Ms. Johnson lured, tempted and persuaded Scott Richards to that spot at the Bonefish Pond. On the evidence the person shot there was Mr. Richards. There is no excuse for this reprehensible conduct."
At the time of the convictions, Bevans was serving sentences connected to a spree of armed robberies in New Providence. Johnson was on bail during the trial and remanded to prison pending sentencing.
