Seven - Day Weather Forecast 22nd–28th December, 2022

Fri, Dec 23rd 2022, 09:32 AM

A high pressure system over the Bahamas is struggling to build over the area, while high moisture environments and very light breezes are contributing to early morning fog.  A parade of frontal systems will sweep across the islands through this week.  Pre-frontal activity associated with one of these cold fronts will begin across the  Extreme Northwest Bahamas as early as Friday.  This cold front is set to be a strong one as it makes its way across the Northwest Bahamas.  High pressure will build behind the cold front and establish a breezy to windy and chilly weather pattern across the chain of islands.  High Temperatures should range in the mid to upper 70’s and low temperatures in the low to mid 60’s.  Wind chill factor will plunge temperatures even further, especially across the Extreme Northern islands. Saturday and Sunday, expect this cold front to linger across the Central Bahamas and then become stationary across these islands on Monday.  A low is expected to develop along the frontal boundary, more specifically, across Central Cuba and to the Southwest of the Bahamas on Tuesday, generating some unsettled weather over the Northwest Bahamas.  Waterspout and funnel cloud activity will be possible over the area.  Rough surf and rip currents still exist on the Atlantic exposed shores.  Therefore, small craft operators and sea-goers should exercise caution. Temporary flooding in low lying and flood prone areas near coastlines can result because of the occurrence of the highest tide of the year, king tide during this week.
