Some 60 participants are taking advantage of the regionally recognized Youth Leadership Certification Programme currently taking place with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture.

According to Dr. Kenneth Miller, Youth Officer, the Ministry of Youth has held this programme for the past ten years. “This is actually into its 11th year as we continue to strengthen youth leaders and practitioners who are working with our young people.”

The programme runs for 14 to 15 weeks, and at the end of it, participants graduate after learning about public speaking, leadership, current trends in drug abuse and other issues they may encounter while dealing with young people. In some sessions, participants also learn about the development of youth organizations as well as positive youth development practices.

Having started in mid-September, the current programme is scheduled to end on December 10 with a graduation at the Grand Lucayan Resort. The next cohort will begin in early spring, 2023.

Those interested in participating in the next session are encouraged to register at the Grand Bahama Sports Complex between 9am and 3pm with either Dr. Miller or Mrs. Carla Brown Roker, Youth Programmes Coordinator.
