The Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation and the Ministry of Transport and Housing, via the Port Department, partnered recently at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) 2022 to promote The Bahamas -- presenting the Port Department to many of the yachting industry participants and stakeholders, with a view to expanding The Bahamas yachting industry and boat registry.  They made known the opportunities and benefits of partnering with the Bahamas Ministry of Transport via its Port Department, and of establishing linkages with fellow Caribbean stakeholders in the industry.

In Photos -- Minister of Transport and Housing the Hon. JoBeth Coleby-Davis tours sites at the boat show, engaging regional and international stakeholders.  She met Tourism, Transport and Housing, and Port Department Heads and staff.  She also met with other industry booth holders who presented their collateral, their nations’ port departments, and opportunities to conduct and book new business with their countries.

Minister Coleby-Davis met with stakeholders and possible new industry partners, discussed opportunities, needs and concerns, and learned what possible new business bookings are looking for -- in order to add their boats to The Bahamas Registry, explore the popular yachting destination or establish linkages that can be beneficial to each country.  Meetings were also had with current stakeholders operating within The Bahamas, who discussed possible deepening of investments, provided needs can be met on both sides.

Minister’s meetings and tour of the boat show concluded with the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, and the Association of Bahamas Marinas In-Booth Social, which is designed to show Bahamian cuisine, drinks, and culture in a relaxing atmosphere to partners, industry stakeholders and possible new business bookings, exploring why it is “Better in the Bahamas” and what the country offers.

Minister indicated, based on needs and concerns expressed during her meet and greets, she will continue to focus attention on opportunities to grow the industry and present recommendations to colleagues for consideration.  She found the meet and greets to be a good starting place to further strengthen Transport and the Port Department, and looks forward to taking advantage of business booking opportunities at the 2023 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show, and other opportunities like it.
